5 keys that will help you out of your comfort zone

1. Face your resistance to change:  If you only see how comfortable you are, and if you are not clear about the benefits you’d get if you dared to go further, you will not get away from your comfort zone.

Make a list of the dreams you’ve always had, although some would seem farfetched: travel the world, learn something new, to make a work of art … What have you always wanted?

But that is not enough, because surely, at the first obstacle or difficulty, a voice in your mind will say, “you DON’T have to do this”. Then, you must take the next step. That “inner voice” that tells you: “I do not have to do this now” is actually a resistance to change.

2. Today is the right time: Waiting for the “perfect time” to do something new is a consequence of a very deep fear: the fear of failure.

We are all afraid of trying to follow our dreams because we don’t want to face the responsibility if they do not go well. But what will change if we wait more? Perhaps nothing, or worse: At a time when we “feel” we are ready, it may be late. To follow a dream, the best time is always as early as possible.

3. Don’t put any conditions: Saying “I will begin when…” is a way to trick ourselves to postpone what we know we have to do. If what is holding you back is a reason such as “I’ll start when I finish my career,” “I’ll start when you have economic stability”. It will be even harder to get yourself out of your comfort zone if you have advanced another step deeper in it.

4. Your dream is for you: “It is not for me” is another great excuse of the mind to hide a fear. In this case, it is a fear related to the ego, and it’s about discovering that we were not really capable of doing something. If this excuse prevents you from achieving a dream, you have to work to raise your self-esteem.

5. “I do not know how to do it” is not an excuse: If your obstacle is that you think you do not know what you have to do to carry out your dream, you’re also tricking yourself. First, no one is born knowing how to do anything, and many eventually succeed. Why, then, would you be unable to learn it?

I wish someone showed me information like this when I was like 15… but it’s NEVER to late to start believing in yourself. Say NO to the comfort zone, say YES to life :’)

"So many people walk around with a meaningless life. They seem half-asleep, even when they’re busy doing things they think are important. This is because they’re chasing the wrong things. The way you get meaning into your life is to devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community around you, and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning."

"You don’t need anyone’s affection or approval in order to be good enough. When someone rejects or abandons or judges you, it isn’t actually about you. It’s about them and their own insecurities, limitations, and needs, and you don’t have to internalize that. Your worth isn’t contingent upon other people’s acceptance of you — it’s something inherent. You exist, and therefore, you matter. You’re allowed to voice your thoughts and feelings. You’re allowed to assert your needs and take up space. You’re allowed to hold onto the truth that who you are is exactly enough. And you’re allowed to remove anyone from your life who makes you feel otherwise."
